I’m just popping by to let you know that I’m taking a little bit of time out. I’m not planning on being away for long but after a whirlwind week I’m putting my feet up for a well earned rest. Image source:: Paris Hotel Boutique
I’ve got a little bit of an obsession with bar carts; not with the drinking bit but with the super slick styling that’s around at the moment. Here’s a few of my favourites: Image sources:: Left Style Me Pretty Living | Top right Kelly Braman via Style Me Pretty Living | Bottom right Original source unknown via Pinterest
Our 1850′s cottage hasn’t got the space or the style for a large brass cart so I’ve taken inspiration in smaller form. A bar tray can offer all the pizazz of a cart but take up a whole lot less room (and much cheaper to keep well stocked!) All you need to whip up a similar scene is a few of your favourite tipples, a couple of snazzy glasses, a stash of limes and somewhere to store your straws.
Here’s my effort own effort (taken from my Instagram feed a while ago) The glasses were a bargain from Home Sense about three years ago and the stripy straws are readily available all over the internet. Oliver Bonas provided the gold forks and the industrial style tray was picked up from Burt’s Homestore in Brighton. Missing from this picture is a little bowl of limes that now have a home on the tray.
I’ve got a whole board on Pinterest just dedicated to alcohol on wheels. Shimmy on over to Pinterest to take a look….
One day, Mr C and I would love to have a little holiday home. It’s probably quite unlikely, but one lady who has managed to fulfil this dream is Sarah Sherman Samuel from Smitten Studio. All images: Sarah Sherman Samuel
I discovered Sarah’s blog last year and was really taken by her streamlined approach. It’s a real departure from my own style but I’d like to think my dream holiday home would have a similar aesthetic; plenty of white, lots of natural materials, dashes of gold and a very generous splash of bold pattern. Sarah and her Husband have renovated their one bedroom cabin on Lake Michigan on a really modest $25K budget. I think my favourite element is the kitchen area. I adore open shelving and love the combination of function and style. For details of the full cabin renovation (there’s some amazing before and afters) pop on over to Smitten Studio.
Don’t forget to share if you’ve had house envy recently too! x
The site has a fabulous range of straws, balloons, pom-poms, garlands and streamers. I am in love with the Drape Curtain Fringing that can be hung from super sized balloons or to create an amazing backdrop for a Dessert Bar.
