Eventful: An Autumn Brunch

By | September 11, 2013

The mornings are chillier, the evenings are rolling in and chunky knits have hit the shops. Yep, that’s right we’re most definitely in Autumn. Autumn Leaves Heart Image via The Berry

I have a lot of love for Autumn, though sadly it all too quickly turns to Winter. To embrace the start of the season I’m planning a little brunch next week with the family. Brunch is just an excuse to have a lie in and have breakfast a bit later in the morning, but I’m all for it! On the menu is a stack of pancakes, baked eggs and perhaps a mimosa or two…
I’ll be grabbing a load of apples too, garden foliage and maybe some pine cones to knock up a rustic tablescape with hints of burnished bronze and russet.

How are you celebrating the start of a new season?

Eventful: Roll up for a Spectacular Spectacular!

By | April 25, 2013

After planning my Wedding back in 2010, I got the bug for adding a bit of panache to any event and no party has ever been the same since! With a family birthday party just around the corner, my Sister (one half of stationery supremo, Bonny & Clyde) and I have got to work planning a ‘Circus Spectacular’. Here’s the moodboard so you can get the gist… Circus Spectacular Moodboard

With just eleven days to pull together this bash, we’re pooling the resources and getting our hands dirty to create an event to remember. On its way to my door are lengths of red and white fabric, glitzy gold spray paint and reels of circus tickets. This weekend will be spent crafting a kissing booth and blackboard menus to plant in the festoon lit garden whilst no doubt there’s a bit of signage being created at Bonny & Clyde HQ. Keep your fingers crossed that my photobooth props make an appearance from an eBay seller and that we have enough helium to make a statement with balloons in the Big Top!

Watch out for updates on Instagram over the weekend!

Tablescape: Easter Decor

By | March 12, 2013

We’re having the family over for a bit of a feast over Easter. I’m never one to miss an opportunity to buy another pack of serviettes (it’s starting to become an obsession) and so I’ve started to have a little think about the table styling. Easter Images sources:: Stamped Wooden Eggs via Paloma’s Nest | Bunny Cookie via La Receta De La Felicidad | Vintage Cutlery via Biskop’s Garden | Rosemary Sprigs via Style Me Pretty | White Tulips via Biskop’s Garden | Pussy Willow via John Harvey | White Ink on Kraft Paper Favour Bags via Once Wed | Linen Tablecloth via Ruby Roost

I’ve gone really traditional here and kept to a very soft palette of browns, greys and whites with lots of natural elements such as Pussy Willow and Tulips. Perhaps it’s the recent bad weather that’s drawn me to a more neutral colour scheme, or the fact that I already have a load of burlap and linen in my cupboard!

My favourite aspect of this tablescape has to be the herb sprigs. The rosemary in my garden seems to have survived the winter so I’m hoping to tie a little sprig to each of the napkins. I always keep a stash of luggage tags to hand too so I’ll be making some place names to include too.

Would love to know if you’re planning to embrace any Easter decor?

P.S. I’ve got an Easter board going on over on Pinterest. You can find me at Fairly Light.
