Found: Petersham Nurseries

By | May 28, 2013

If you find yourself in Surrey this Summer, then take an hour or two to relax at Petersham Nurseries.
It would be easy to miss the entrance to the chicest garden centre in Richmond, so keep your eyes peeled for the turning down a narrow road off Petersham Road. petersham_entry

Behind the brick walls are a series of potting sheds. Once inside you’re greeted with rustic elegance with a boho edge; herbs crammed into wooden crates, galvanised chandeliers, distressed bistro chairs and weathered terracotta pots flanked by antique aged shutters and other beautiful vintage finds. inside_petersham

There’s a wide range of plants available and a huge selection of herbs. Its by no mean cheap but it would be very easy to get swept away! petersham_plants

We stopped by the Teahouse to indulge in one of the homemade cakes (around £4.50 per slice). Thanks to the sunny spring weather we were able to enjoy outside amongst the last of the tulips perched on rickety, mismatched chairs. Tearoom_petersham

Glancing through to The Petersham Nurseries Cafe, the sophisticated yet quirky bohemian theme continues with huge palm trees, coloured glass and masses of potted plants. The menu looks fab too offering simple, locally sourced food topped with edible flowers. inside__petersham

A little gem that’s definitely worth exploring.

Etsy Pick: The Carbon Crusader

By | May 9, 2013

In my younger years, one of the highlights of the summer holidays was the annual trip to the stationery shop (yes, fun was hard to come by back then) Armed with just £1 pocket money, I would pour over the endless pencils, rulers and paper to make sure I got as many items as I could. One time my sister splashed out her full quota on ONE fountain pen. I was utterly horrified. pencil And so all this chat about stationery brings me nicely on to another Etsy Pick. The Carbon Crusader has a really fabulous range of pencils with a smashing selection of quotes, my favourite being ‘I carried a Watermelon’

For just £2.65 for the three you can afford to get a few sets to grace your desk such as these pretty cursive ‘Hello Darling’ versions. Why not treat a friend to the hot pink ‘You’re like, really pretty’ or count down to the weekend with the Days of the Week set.

They also create custom designs for you to order. Bearing in mind the spam filter, what would you like to see custom printed on your pencil?!

Found: i gigi General Store

By | May 2, 2013

I think I could quite happily live in i gigi General Store. Nestled on the bustling Western Road in Hove (…actually) in East Sussex, the shop is a haven of outrageously beautiful homeware and gifts all laid out in a serene and welcoming setting. igigi These beautiful images are taken directly from the i gigi website and perfectly illustrate the store’s muted, earthy palette and the stunning wares on offer. Rather than be caught bedding down for the night by owners Alex and Zoe, I’ve decided to take a few elements from the store and introduce them into my own home as I perform a well needed makeover on our utility room.

igigi_more High on my list of things to include in my own home are the floating shelves, rattan baskets, a bell jar or two and a propped mirror, not to mention piling on the texture with linen and burlap.

If you’re ever in the Brighton area do make sure you drop in for a browse (or to nip upstairs for a delicious cake or two). In the meantime, consider taking a look at A Life Less Ordinary, an interiors and inspirations book by owners, Zoe Ellison and Alex Legendre.

Enjoy. Lauren x

Etsy Pick: Jessica Illustration

By | April 9, 2013

I’m finding myself drawn to watercolour prints at the moment and am desperately trying to find a suitable home for this beautiful creation, Elegant Rapture so that I can add it to my Etsy shopping bag.
Evening Rapture

Jessica Durrant’s Etsy shop, Jessica Illustration ooozes glamour with a stunning selection of fashionable prints.
If you’re afraid of colour, adding a watercolour painting or print to your home can add a hint of colour without being too bold. Alternatively opt for one of Jessica’s monochrome styles.
There’s a whole load of gorgeousness to choose from and if you’re feeling flush you can also splash out on an original.

Add a Bunny to your Basket

By | March 21, 2013

I nipped into one of the many H&M’s on Oxford Street last week to have a quick look round their home department eager to pick up a bargain or two. H&M Jack Rabbit Range I was very pleased to see this adorable Jack Rabbit Range on show and treated myself to a plate and the matching napkins for next week’s Easter feast.

Starting from as little as £1.99 for the Egg Cup, there’s also a Tea Towel (£2.99), Mug (£3.99) & Plate (£4.99).

Will you be adding anything from the H&M range to your basket?
