Bedside Manner

By | February 15, 2013

If ever there was a reason to finally look at the manual of my DSLR this is it, iPhone photos just don’t cut it! However let’s move on to one of the to-do jobs for February. Bedside styling At the start of the month, I mentioned that I wanted to put the bedside table in our main bedroom to good use. I’ll spare you the ‘before’ shots (it looked exactly the same just with a pile of dust and junk on top).

I can’t take credit for the paint job as it was purchased complete with a rather nice coat of distressed Annie Sloan paint from a lovely shop in Hove (the name unfortunately escapes me).

As for the bits on top:

- The vintage motor car book was bought from Boulevard Bookshop in Hastings. If you’re ever in the area you’re in for a treat- by day the shop sells books, but in the evening it turns into a Thai Restaurant!
- The mason jar was purchased from eBay but even though it came from the UK it took forever to arrive
- The clock dish came from Green and Stone, an art shop on the King’s Road (very posh of me)
- The photo frame and roses were both gifts from some gorgeous friends

Those lovely ladies across the pond have been styling some rather vibrant bedside tables (or nightstands, as they like to call them). Everygirl_EmilyHenderson Left: The Everygirl | Right: Emily Henderson

Their articles are worth a look to run through the basics of dressing up your bedside. According to The Everygirl you should include five items for a chic & functionable table; a clock, a lamp, reading material, a candle and another accessory.  It would appear I’ve only managed two of them (although there’s no need for a lamp as we have sconces above the bed), but it’s still another one to cross off the list.

Hope you’re ticking jobs off your February list too. Have a great weekend x
