A Rose Tinted Christmas

By | November 27, 2013

I have spent a good three or four years building up my stash of Christmas decorations in a rather tasteful palette of grey and white. On the first day in December I take great pleasure in dragging down box after box to deck the halls.
However over the past year I have fallen in love with rose hues and warm golden tones and so today I present to you, a rose tinted Christmas.

In real life I am unlikely to stray from my neutral collection (and it would cost a fortune to replace my hoard) but for the creative purposes of the post I’m going to let my mind wander to a world of sparkle and shimmer.

Starting off with the decorations, I’m imagining I’d unpack a heap of delicate glass vintage baubles and pair them with garlands in subtle blush shades. The unmistakable glow of fairly lights would also feature massively, with strings hung all about the house. Rose Gold Christmas - Champagne, Glitter, Vintag dresses and wrapping paper

Christmas morning would begin with lashings of pink champagne, slipping into a Dowtownesque frock to pass out gifts wrapped in sumptuous, luxurious paper finished with feathers. A decadent tablescape would be set with gold flatware and coloured glass and to finish off, an elegant dessert bar. Rose Gold Christmas Tablescape

However beautiful this stylised version of Christmas may appear, I would be hard pushed to swap with my usual festive gatherings. No matter how stylish our intentions are, it will no doubt feature a flurry of Christmas jumpers, bumper rolls of wrapping paper and mismatched cutlery…and I wouldn’t change a thing.

How about you? Any plans to change your colour scheme this Christmas? x

Love the festive wrapping inspiration above!

We’re heading into a brand new house this week, with big decisions to be made, I love your white company inspiration from last year for a mantle piece, I think a big gold and silver combo is the way to go!!! Like you say, no matter how hard I try, I’m sure a bit of festive rouge will work it’s way in to the neutrals/metallic somewhere…getting past a colour a theme and into a wonderful creative array of ‘anything goes’ will be the challenge in years to come! Thanks or the inspiration x
